In Memory

Michael Lasich

I was advised by family friends that Mike passed Saturday the 29th of October 2022. Mike was living in a care facility in Auburn California dealing with cancer related to prostate disease. I spent several visits with Mike at the facility and yet being understandably concerned he had accepted the condition and was happy with his life.

Mike had chosen not to have any service and requested that we just pause and give him a kind thought. RIP Mike, you were a good friend and Classmate. Ken Stroth

Michael Lasich was an ole childhood friend from Carmichael. Along with Don Bush, a few of us went to El Camino instead of La Sierra. Ken said that according to family/friend, "Michael was happy with his life." That really is such a complete statement of one's life. I could hear MIchael say that. I can see his smile and the comment puts a smile on my face. Thank you for kindly welcoming me at reunions with your smile.  Farewell to you ole friend, Michael.

Makes me very sad to hear of Mike's passing. He was a child and growing up friend. We played baseball every since 3rd grade. Brings back a game we had against Marvin Marshall in our 3rd grade year at an little auxiliary school near Fair Oaks Blvd and El Camino Ave.
He had been caught with a pack of cigarettes, which in those days was big time. After they called his folks he was allowed to play.
There are so many good times we had playing baseball thru Pony League.
I moved away from Sacramento at the end of my sophomore year at El Camino High, loosing take of Mike till returning in 1963 to go to Sacramento State College. It was then I caught back up with Mike while he was a D.J. on the radio. His nick name was The Fat Kid. He was a natural.
I do love Mary's rememberanc of Mike.
She also was a classmate growing up with Mike and I. Always liked her friend Joan.
Mike, RIP
Know your mind missed.

During our junior or senior year, I worked in the football stadium press box as the spotter for Mike, who was operating the public address system to announce to the croud what was taking place on each play during the game. It was clear even then that Mike had in mind pursuing a career in broadcasting.

Years later, Mike and I had a conversation at one of our reunions where he surprised me by informing me that at one time, he had used my name as his "on air" name on one of his radio DJ jobs. I never liked my name and I was greatly surprised that anyone else would choose to adopt it as a professioinal name. Strange but true.

RIP Mike. I'm glad that I might have contributed in some way to your success.
