I am truly sadden and sorry to hear of Ken's passing, he was a special fellow.  So grateful that we all had the time to share some conversation and cherished memories with him at the 5oth reunion.  Thankful to Ken Stroth for seeing that it was possible for Ken to join us and celebrate the past 50 years. Will always keep Ken in my favorite memories, along with other cherished high school friends and times.

After all Ken's suffering, he is finally at peace.

Wow. I was not expecting this. Ken was my friend, classmate and neighbor spanning seven decades. I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit with him at Sam's and at the reunion just nine short months ago.

Ken and I became friends when my family moved to Sacramento in the late summer and fall of 1952. Our homes adjoined each other--Ken and his family on Cathay Way, and our home on Winding Creek Road. The creek run through both of our properties.

Arden Oaks was in it's infancy and Winding Creek Road stopped at Cathay Way. Beyond it--and all the way to Eastern Avenue--was an open field. I always admired his athletic abilities--a gift I did not share:) But we had fun in those great 50's days--life was simpler, there was no fear of being taken by a child preditor as there is today. Tyke Mc Connel--who lived directly across the street from me--Ken, and I, thought nothing of riding our bikes a mile or more from home. Doors in the neighborhood were always unlocked and we were always welcome in each other's homes.

We played war games in our back yards, waded in the creek, shot baskets in our driveways. Life was good.

Ken had an anormous God-given gift for art--photography, drawing and painting. We went to school together from the 3rd grade though our graduation from El Camino. Shortly after that--when I moved to LA to work with The Beach Boys, we lost track of each other. Our parents continued their close friendship and one of Ken's step-sisters got married in our backyard.

I knew Ken had moved to NV but as our generation 'left the nest' I wasn't able to stay in close contact with him. I was so happy to see him at the reunion weekend. We had a nice visit recalling the 'good ole days.' Sure, I noticed he was using a cane--but I really did not think that much of it.

Ken's tragic passing certainly makes me count my blessings--and even though I can deal with the aches and pains of growing old, even the diminished eyesight--it is having to say 'good-bye' to so many friends and family that is so difficult to take.

RIP, Ken, and 'thanks' for pulling me out of the creek mud so many, many years ago.

Your old neighbor, classmate and childhood friend,

Fred

Ken my friend rest in peace. Ken was one of my best friends growing up and later in life continued strongly until his death. Ken and I shared adventures that formed my life and interests today. We were out on our own from the day our parents turned us loose. Bicycling everywhere, motorcycle trips, 4-wheeling in my jeep, backpacking all over the sierras, hunting, fishing and all the things Teenager's experimented with growing up. What I'm proud of none of this was over the top or got us introuble with with our parents or the law. ALL just good fun. I even became Ken's step sisters God Parent. Again, Rest In Pease and we will all see you later in that Other Place. Ken Stroth

RIP Ken.  I remember you from 3rd grade at Oroville Wright School and living in Arden Oaks (we were on Maple Glen).  You called me a "fairy" in 3rd grade and I couldn't decide if it was a compliment or an insult:)  Carole Thompson
