Cary Nosler

Announcement From his family

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Cary Allan Nosler. He died suddenly but peacefully on a Sunday afternoon, December 17th, in Thailand. He was staying with his son Gavin and his family on the island of Koh Chang.

Cary led an extraordinary life, positively influencing countless numbers of people through education and entertainment. He was a devoted father and a loving grandfather. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.

He is survived by his three sons, Reese, Gavin, and Aaron, his former wife and dear friend Laura, his daughter-in-law Jutamas, and his three grandchildren, Taylor, Lily, and Noah.

So very sad to hear that a good friend of 30+ years and mentor and fellow radio talk show host has “died suddenly.” (Triple V)

He and I traveled together educating on holistic health and wellness from 1995-2000.

He was an inspiration to millions as “Captain Carrot.” (The health expert and spokesperson for Sunrise Natural Foods and Raley’s)

He was the healthiest person I’ve ever known next to my friend Jack LaLanne.

Cary should have lived to 100.

He was my neighbor, mentor, friend, fellow radio personality, and gym partner for many years. He will be missed.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Cary's passing.  We had been friends for 72 years!  His family and friends reminded me of the important role Cary played in my life; especially, during early childhood. We met in second grade at Arden Elementary School.  Both of us lived nearby on the same street so naturaly we played together and spent a lot of time together going through the rigors of adolescence.  Cary's younger brother John frequenty joined our play group. Together with other boys near our age we did all of the usual stuff:  touch football, Litle League baseball, monopoly, card games, etc.  Unfiortunately John was a Type 1 diabetic and left us at an. early age. Our friendship remained at a high level throughout elementary schooll. At El Camino some of our interests diverged.  Cary became interested in acting, joined the Thespians, and saw a career for himself in radio and television.  He was also interested in body building and health foods.  Read everything written about health and nutrition.  Joined the EC track team as a shot putter.  After graduation from. college (I think it was Sac State) he got a job as a radio show talk host as "Captain Carrot" where he talked about his favorite subject.  After a few years of that he graduated to television with a regular appearance on "PM Magazine," a nationally sindicated show that aired at 7:00 pm in New York, where I lived at the time.  In that time frame, around 1980, he also acquired a line of health foods and diet supplements under the brand name "Captain Carrot".  Also in that time frame he married Laura, an airline flight attendant, who prodduced his sons. More recently Carole and I visited Cary at his home at Hermosa Beach. Shortly after that he moved back to Sacramentol His last venture, I believe was his radio show on Serius Sattelite Radio called "Forever Young.".My last contaqct with Cary occurred earlier this year, when I pointed out to him and Julie Pardee that they share the same birth date.  In closing, Cary was a bright, inquisitive fellow who loved to share his interests with others.
