In Memory

Diane Andrews (Athanasiou)

From Sharon Loris (submitted January, 2024)

Diane (Andrews) Athanasiou passed away on January 6, 1999.  We were really good friends because she was the only other Greek girl at El Camino and our mothers were very best friends.  Her sister Pamela was my brother Bills girlfriend during high school (graduated 1964).  Pam has also passed away from a heart attack several years ago.  I am still close to their brother, Peter Andrews who lives in LA and is quite a famous composer for movies, television and the stage.  The Andrews family was just like they were my own family.  I do miss having Diane and Pam around but I am happy to say that Peter and his beloved wife Linda are very dear and close friends to this day.

Diane and I were next door neighbors from age 6 - 11, and in those days we were close friends.  We spent many hours together and with other neighbor kids.  Those were carefree years, filled with fun.  I have many happy memories of things we did together--making and selling "perfume" from plants in our yards, riding bikes all over the place, playing cards and board games, having baseball games, playing "ditch" all over the neighborhood until well after dark, going to the State Fair, playing "school" and "library."  Diane and her younger sister Pam (maybe their youngest brother Peter) went to Greek School and they taught me all the naughty words they knew.  I lost track of Diane and her wonderful family in high school and especially when I left for college, but I wanted to share some fond memories I still have from our fun times together.
